New York Hilton Midtown
A Vegas-scale behemoth that takes up a city block.
A monumental $180 million was spent at this hotel on a master-plan renovation resulting in a sleek metal-and-stone façade, a reconfigured marble lobby with a seven-foot-tall bronze sculpture and new dining and lounge venues. With 1,980 rooms, this colossus occupies an entire city block. You name it and the place has it: an in-house jeweler, a 24-hour business center with secretarial services and a ticket center for theaters and sightseeing. Guest rooms are airy and spacious, particularly on the Executive Floors, where accommodations come with private check-in, concierge services and complimentary continental breakfast and afternoon hors d’oeuvres reception. All rooms have two dual-line telephones and both wired and wireless high-speed Internet access. On-site Herb N' Kitchen offers casual fare. Breakfast options include a Japanese buffet. The welcoming Bridges Bar, so named because it celebrates New York's seven bridges with photographs of each along the walls, invites guests to enjoy cocktails, wine and beer in a relaxed and comfy contemporary setting. Of note: all twelve of the hotel elevators have TVs.
