A room without a view -- or much else.
Don't expect the staff at this dreary Midtown hotel to do much more than hand you the key and point in the direction of your room. The lobby, which subscribes to the linoleum school of design, is small; and odors from the nearby Subway sandwich shop pervade it. A large glass wall separates guests from the front desk clerk, giving the feeling of a jail. Travelers don't come to this hotel for luxury. They come for the reasonable rates. Still, the rooms are decent and clean and have wireless Internet access, cable TV, a phone and daily maid service. Cheaper rooms come with shared bathrooms. There's also a complimentary American breakfast served from 7:30-9:30 a.m. in the restaurant on the first floor. For entertainment, there's a faux Irish pub next door --- and it's open late.
