Top 10 Spa Hotels in New York
Elegance, timeless style overlooks Central Park at this classic Four Seasons hotel.
This hotel has everything. Absolutely everything. A block from Fifth Avenue, it occupies a 52-story, I.M. Pei-designed limestone tower with 360-degree views of Central Park and the surrounding skyline. Guests enter via a dramatic grand foyer boasting a 33-foot-high back-lit onyx ceiling. Of note are the art deco lamps, a throwback to the 1930s.
The 368 spacious, redesigned studio and suite accommodations feature foyers with built-in mini-bars and separate sitting areas. They are decorated in rich caramel or copper color schemes, and their custom-designed furnishings are fashioned from rare Japanese tamo ash and cerused oak. Singular elements include handmade, king-size, lighted pedestal beds that appear to float above the floor. Cubist and abstract art provide dramatic accents, while Frette linens, soundproofing and blackout blinds ensure comfort and a good night's rest. The 120-square-foot bathrooms (done in Italian Breccia Oniciata) contain separate soaking tubs and showers, TVs and telephones, along with all the customary upscale amenities. Standard indulgences include 55- to 65-inch curved HD TVs, walk-in English Sycamore closets and windows that open (a rarity in New York hotels). For a truly decadent stay, the 4,300-square-foot Ty Warner Suite boasts design by Peter Marino and I.M. Pei, both of whom selected the original furnishings and artwork.
L.RAPHAEL Beauty Spa is the celebrated brand's first outpost in the United States, offering massage therapies and, most notably, anti-aging skincare treatments. For meetings, the FIFTY7 event space is a gorgeous tribute to the art deco movement; it is just one of numerous rooms that make up the hotel's more than 12,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Along with a well-equipped business center, the hotel offers translation, interpretation and secretarial services. Need a car and driver? The hotel has you covered gratis within a two-mile radius. For house dining, The Garden offers an enchanted setting, with potted trees among the tables, and for speakeasy classics from the 1920s and 30s, Ty Bar is the perfect place to socialize. As for going out and about, a Rolls-Royce house car is available for short distances.
