This Hyde Park neighborhood B&B gives visitors the feeling of being a local insider.

Adams House

The Hyde Park neighborhood location of this B&B gives guests the feeling of being a local resident. This highly sought-after area for homebuyers (a bit north of UT campus) boasts wide, tree-lined streets and a perfect mix of urban planning and neighborhood character. Staying at a B&B means passing on the ubiquitous pool and gym of hotels, but at Adams House these are all nearby off the property. Join locals in walking or biking to the park a block away with tennis courts and swimming pool. A serviceable nine-hole golf course (the oldest in Texas) is also a couple blocks away. If dining is your thing, you’re in luck. Also within a block are several top-notch options including fine dining Italian, American, an upscale vegetarian haven and Antonelli’s Cheese Shop --- a high-end cheese shop offering tastings and classes. The five rooms in Adams House all have private baths, though some are more spacious than others. The colonial revival home features a mix of period furniture and some more modern (though fitting) pieces. The house was originally built in 1911 as a one-story bungalow, but has seen periods of expansion to the two-story spot it is today. The abundantly friendly on-premise innkeepers have a reputation for being excellent insiders on things to do in Austin that you can’t find in guidebooks.
