Modern amenities, bed-and-breakfast charm and Victorian style on the San Antonio River Walk.

Jackson House

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Jackson House was built by Moses Jackson in 1894 and now provides guests with a taste of the nineteenth century --- albeit one that features modern amenities. Guests can enjoy a wealth of relaxing activities, such as lazing in the Victorian-era parlor or lounging in front of the fireplace. They can also savor a full breakfast at private tables in the dining room, linger over afternoon tea, lemonade and homemade snacks, or simply sit out on the front porch and listen to the fountain. A heated spa pool is housed in a stained glass-encased conservatory. Despite its emphasis on history, Jackson House has kept up with the times and offers many modern amenities, including high-speed Internet access, gas fireplaces and in-room TVs with cable (including HBO). Its six guest rooms are furnished with period antiques such as spacious desks and chairs; they also come with high-thread count cotton towels and linens, hair dryers, central heat and air-conditioning, ceiling fans, signature robes and private marble bathrooms with luxurious amenities. The rooms are housed on two floors, and first-floor rooms feature twelve-foot ceilings. Families on vacation should consider seeking alternate accommodations, however; the Jackson House only welcomes children over the age of thirteen.
