A working cattle ranch offers a glimpse of the cowboy life.
This 10,000-acre working cattle ranch provides an outdoor escape from the quaint Danish village of Solvang. Big is the key characteristic at this dude ranch with its two eighteen-hole golf courses, seven tennis courts, a 100-acre lake and 5,500 square feet of meeting space. Guests can choose from activities like horseback riding and bass fishing and can even take a hayride or learn country line dancing. Packages include rustic themes like BBQ Bootcamp. Group and team-building activities can also be arranged. Inside what looks like a sprawling ranch house, guest rooms continue the country theme with retro wood paneling, Western art, wood-burning fireplaces and quilts. Deluxe studios also have a covered porch, and two-room suites with vaulted ceilings are available. None of the accommodations have TVs or telephones, however. A buffet breakfast and sit-down dinner are included with the price, and a general store sells snacks, from peanuts and candy bars to wine and beer. Do note there is a two-night minimum, and if more than two people occupy a room, they will be billed $55-$85 per extra person three years old and over.
