Old-fashioned atmosphere matched by equally old-school hospitality.

Willard Street Inn

The storybook exterior of this inn was influenced by a variety of styles, including Queen Anne and Colonial Georgian Revival. A slate roof and dramatic marble staircase highlight the exterior, while inside original details include elaborate moldings, wood floors and a cherry-paneled foyer. Surrounding evergreens make the setting feel rural, but guests can easily walk to the Church Street Marketplace and Burlington Waterfront. The home was built in the late 1800s for a state senator and was turned into an inn in 1996. All of the 14 guest rooms have private baths. They are furnished with period antiques, with stand-outs including an iron canopy bed and a leather headboard. Style varies from room to room. An open contemporary shower area can be found in the Woodhouse Suite, while The Conservatory is wrapped in cute, yellow, floral wallpaper. Many of the accommodations have cozy, sloped ceilings. The prettiest area in the house is the solarium; surrounded by French-style windows, it's infused with light, and its café-style tables, potted plants and black-and-white checked floors make for a cheerful mood. Activities such as bocci ball and croquet enhance the old-fashioned feel of the property. A full English breakfast is included with each stay.
