The Inn at Little Washington

Gracious digs and a fabulous restaurant perfect for a D.C. day trip or weekend getaway.

The Inn at Little Washington

This country classic is located at the base of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, about an hour and a half west of Washington, D.C. It delights visitors with its elegant furnishings and exquisite food. The lovely lobby features a marble fireplace and entry ceiling made of stained glass. An outdoor courtyard and garden has trellises teeming with flowers, white wrought-iron furniture and French doors opening into the building. Rooms are a bit on the small side, but they are lavishly decorated. Styles vary between rooms, but most feature 18th- and 19th-century French and English country décor designed by London stage and set designer, Joyce Evans. Amenities include niceties like bottled water and heated towel racks in the bathrooms. The restaurant is perhaps more famous than the sleeping accommodations, and offers extravagant dining at a corresponding price with prix-fixe options. Continental breakfast is complimentary; you can also splurge and enjoy a hot morning meal. Complimentary tea and treats are served each afternoon in the common room.
