Lone Fir Resort
A wilderness retreat in the shadow of a volcano.
There are countless recreational opportunities in the great northwest, especially when you venture deep into the forest. This family-style motel makes a good base camp for myriad adventures, including hiking, fly fishing, biking or cross country skiing. Mount St. Helens is nearby, and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest is even closer. This remote little resort caters mainly to the RV crowd, but the 16 units fill with families in the summer and hunters in the fall. The complex welcomes everyone who comes down the road; there are 32 RV sites, tent sites and the motel. The motel rooms are basic, with a number of different configurations from which to choose, from simple accommodations with a queen bed to a four-bedroom, two-bathroom kitchen unit. There are also some family-friendly amenities, such as a snack shop, seasonal pool and club house.
