Shafer-Baillie Mansion

907 14th Ave. E. (E. Aloha St.) Seattle WA

A millionaire's mansion from the early 20th century.

Shafer-Baillie Mansion

Dark and just a little bit dusty, this three-story 1914 mansion resides on Seattle’s old Millionaire’s Row. It offers insight into how the other half lived not that long ago. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, the home is a block away from the Seattle Asian Art Museum, the conservatory and the pretty gardens of Volunteer Park. It’s also within walking distance to the action on Broadway. The period antiques give an air of authenticity. You expect the original residents to suddenly appear and ask you what you’re doing in their house. All of the rooms are individually decorated and most have private baths and mini-refrigerators. A few also have TVs. The Elliott Bay Suite has a large bathroom and views of the Space Needle, the water and the Olympic Mountains. Sitting areas can be found on the manicured lawns and the covered front porch.
