Run of the River
This quiet bed and breakfast is not new, but is definitely improved.
This rustic, log cabin-style B&B sits in a quiet country setting just outside the Bavarian village of Leavenworth. Still, it feels far from civilization. The six rooms are sanctuaries overlooking the Wenatchee River, Enchantment Mountains and a nearby wildlife refuge. But while the accommodations are inviting, most guests spend their days outdoors hiking, biking and skiing. You can enjoy the complimentary use of snow shoes in the winter and mountain bikes in the summer. When the owners renovated the place in 2001, they decided to decrease the number of rooms and turn those that remained into larger, luxurious suites. All of the work was done by local artists and craftsmen, and it shows in the details---king-size log beds, tubs surrounded by river rocks and computerized slate floors that turn on and heat themselves early in the morning.
