It's impossible not to get excited when any version of this Christmas classic is aired during the holidays.

While Charles Dickens' classic tale of holiday redemption has been told many times and many ways, we prefer director Brian Desmond Hurst's 1951 film adaptation when it comes to spending time with Ebenezer and company. Veteran character actor Alastair Sim is, for many, the quintessential Scrooge, imbuing the character with both humor and heartbreak as he is given glimpses into his bittersweet past and harrowing future. As Scrooge's icy demeanor eventually thaws, we too find our spirits warmed by the film's classic depiction of snowy Victorian streets, blazing hearths and, of course, Tiny Tim's iconic cry of "God bless us, everyone!"
