Kinkaku-ji Temple

Known as the “Golden Pavilion,” this Zen Buddhist temple is nothing short of breathtaking.

Kinkaku-ji Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built in 1397 as Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu’s retirement residence and later converted to a temple according to his will. After a monk set it on fire in 1950, the structure was reconstructed in 1955 and has been preserved since. The mesmerizing sight of the gold leaf exterior reflected in the tranquil Kyoko-chi (mirror) Pond is unlike anything you've ever seen. Kinkaku-ji Temple is truly a sight to behold.
