The Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso is located in Paseo del Prado in Havana. Alicia Alonso is a Cuban prima ballerina who in 1985 proposed the building be renamed to its current moniker. Former titles included Palace of the Galician Centre, Grand National Theatre - Galician Centre, Federico García Lorca Theatre and Liceo de La Habana Vieja.
The building features theaters, a concert hall, conference rooms, video screening room, art gallery, a choral center and rehearsal halls. It's home to the Cuban National Ballet and hosts the International Ballet Festival of Havana. The García Lorca Auditorium is the main venue seating up to 1,500 people, and many notable artists and ballet companies have performed on its stage.
