This picturesque route offers everything we've come to expect from wine touring in France: beauty and elegance.
Stretching southward between Reims and Épernay, the Champagne Route (and its several offshoots) winds through the gentle slopes of some of the world's most famous vineyards. The trip takes visitors through romantic villages dotted with tasting rooms offering flutes of the regional beverage.
The journey also takes visitors past the alleged birthplace of Champagne. It was in the Abbey of Saint-Pierre d'Hautvillers that Dom Pérignon was said to have discovered this sparkling style. Although the abbey is closed to the public, the church, lovingly restored by Champagne Dom Pérignon, welcomes visitors.
