Plaça Reial

This porticoed square was the former site of a Capuchin convent that was demolished in the 19th century.

A view of Plaça Reial in Barcelona, Spain

Across the Ramblas is the neoclassically designed Plaça Reial. Patio tables spill out from the taverns and restaurants in the palm tree-lined square, and street musicians mingle amongst the revelers. The centerpiece here is the fountain of the Three Graces. Take note of the two colorful lampposts on each side of the fountain. These were Antoni Gaudí's first public commission for the city of Barcelona.

The plaza is wonderful to visit anytime, but restaurants, bars and lounges comes alive especially at night.
