Parque Mirador Independencia
This is the place to get in a hike and absorb the natural scenery.
Located at the very end of Avenida Independencia in the northern outskirts of town, is this impressive public park, which surrounds one of the most rewarding views in Guadalajara, the Barranca de Oblatos. A deep canyon shaped by the Santiago and Grande rivers, Barranca de Oblatos is an escape from the city and is home to many endemic animal species. It's particularly popular among bird watchers. The park has well-marked jogging trails with magnificent canyon views. The best times for visiting are dusk and dawn, not only because the park is less crowded, but also for the beautiful reflections of the sun on the canyon.
