Discover the heart of the mariachi music scene in Los Angeles.
Located just a mile from downtown Los Angeles is Mariachi Plaza Los Angeles, a lively center where people can come to socialize, take in the sights and, of course, enjoy performances by mariachi bands donning classic charro suits. What has now become a custom of the plaza dates back to the 1930s when mariachi musicians flocked to this area hoping to find work performing at events, parties and restaurants. Many set up camp at the Boyle Hotel, also nicknamed the Mariachi Hotel, because of its proximity to the plaza. Today, mariachi is still at the heart of the plaza with bands eager to share their music with the public.
