Los Angeles
Best Things to Do

Santa Monica & Venice

Although Los Angeles has 75 miles of coastline, the wide and accessible beach of Santa Monica is probably the most popular of them all. The resort-like Annenberg Community Beach House is a fun public attraction while the iconic Santa Monica Pier beckons visitors with its views, restaurants, bars and small amusement park that features the world's only solar-powered Ferris wheel. Third Street Promenade is packed with shops and eateries while Palisades Park is a gorgeously situated park atop the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. If you want to surf, Santa Monica is home to more than a dozen surf schools.

The neighboring city of Venice is another one of LA's popular beachside destinations, offering a grit-and-glam mix of inhabitants that range from haute hipppies to low-key surfers. For high-end retail and dining options, be sure to stroll along the mile-long stretch of Abbot Kinney Boulevard. For a real taste of the city's colorful culture, head straight to the Venice Boardwalk where you can walk, bike, dance and skip alongside artists, musicians, vendors and mystics from every walk of life.
