Marciano Art Foundation

A former Scottish Rite Masonic Temple is now a space displaying art in the heart of LA.

The exterior of the Marciano Art Foundation

The structure housing the Marciano Art Foundation dates back to 1961 and is one of the last Masonic lodges to be built in Los Angeles. Founders Paul and Maurice Marciano — creators of the GUESS? brand — could not have chosen a more appropriate foundation to house their collection of artworks.

The ornate building is a work of art itself, decorated in ritualistic symbols and still possessing an air of secrecy that its Freemasonry past has endowed it. Inside, visitors can view the Marciano brothers' permanent collection of more than 1,500 works, as well as intriguing rotating exhibits. The museum also houses a bookstore, café and garden.

Admission is free but tickets must be reserved in advance.
