Mission San Juan Capistrano

A California mission that is more than 230 years old.

The central courtyard at Mission San Juan Capistrano

Known as the "jewel of the California missions," this historical landmark is the third most visited attraction in the Golden State. It dates back to 1775 and is the only chapel still standing in California where Saint Serra held mass. Audio and guided tours of the mission are offered, and there's also a unique Swallows Walk & Talk tour. The tour focuses on the arrival of swallows that migrate from Goya, Argentina. Every year, these birds arrive at the mission on March 19th. There is a special celebration that day to commemorate the event, but the tours are given year-round. While here, don't miss a chance to explore historic downtown San Juan Capistrano.
