Artesa Vineyards & Winery 2012 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir

Price: $40 Rating: 14.5/20 RegionNapa Valley, California Varietals: 100 percent Pinot Noir Alcohol: 14.2 percent   Tasting Notes: Thanks to a bit of good luck, Artesa Vineyards & Winery suffered only minimal damage from the August 24th earthquake that shook southern Napa County. We couldn’t be happier for them or their wine, which is stunning. Owned by the Raventós family of Catalonia, Artesa is part of the Codorníu winemaking dynasty, whose long history can be traced back to the mid-16th century. Their 2012 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir is well-balanced, fruit-forward and naturally acidic, which is precisely what lauded Artesa winemaker Mark Beringer is known for. The bouquet boasts aromas of raspberry and cherry alongside notes of rose petal, adding a light, creamy oak element on the palate. It is a smooth and elegant wine, showcasing Artesa’s generations-long love of winemaking. Here’s to many more generations to come.   Food Pairings: Pheasant, toasted fig and Camembert tartine, roasted duck   For more information, visit Artesa Vineyards & Winery’s official website   Other Pinot Noir wines we have tasted   Related Content: Anna de Codorníu Brut Rose Restaurants in Napa, California Napa Valley Vintners Association’s official website
