Founded in 1804 by Father Estevan Tapis, the mission is still an active church for more than 1,000 families.
Santa Inés (Saint Agnes) is the patron saint of chasity and this mission in Solvang is dedicated to her. It has been standing for more than 200 years and has persevered through numerous challenges, from financial crisis to political unrest. The mission possesses a number of paintings, statuary, vestments, manuscripts, and artifacts that are on view to the public. Visitors are welcome to take self-guided tours of the museum, church and garden between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily, except holidays, for a fee of five dollars.
