Don't miss paying a visit to this Denver historical landmark.
Embark on a tour of the Colorado State Capitol, modeled after the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Canopied under a gold-plated dome, the rotunda offers sweeping views of the city skyline and the Rocky Mountains.
While here, go to the west entrance of the building where you will see the phrase, "One Mile Above Sea Level" engraved on the 15th step, an official marker of Denver's elevation. Inside, examine the interior design, which is made up of various types of marble, such as Colorado Rose Onyx and Yule. If you look closely, images can be found in the marble, such as one that resembles George Washington.
