Volcano Art Center & Gallery
Experience a rain forest tour and check out handcrafted art works by more than 300 local artists.
The Volcano Art Center gallery is in Kilauea, home to Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of the volcano, and houses a collection that includes furniture of native woods, hand-blown glass, jewelry featuring precious and semiprecious stones and metals and a collection of two and three dimensional works in paint, photography, clay fiber and mixed media.
Every Monday morning they host rain forest tours where visitors can learn about rare native Hawaiian rain forests, specifically Niaulani rain forest. Visitors learn about Niaulani’s overall ecological importance as one of the last old-growth koa and’ōhi’a rain forests. The hour-long tour does include light rains.
