Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Across Esplanade from the French Quarter is Faubourg Marigny, a quaint and colorful neighborhood of mostly 19th-century houses, that is less formal and compact than the Quarter. The architecture is noticeably diverse — Creole cottages, Italian-style mansions, as well as French, Spanish and Caribbean influences are present here. Another worthy mention is Frenchmen Street, known for its music scene, which can be found in this neck of the woods.

Just a few minutes away is the neighborhood Bywater. The art scene is a main draw here with the St. Claude Arts District at its center. Crescent Park with its view of the Mississippi River is in the area too.
