Practically an icon of the city, the cathedral sits at the heart of Jackson Square.
Located in the French Quarter, St. Louis Cathedral has stood since the 1700s and is the oldest Roman Catholic cathedral in the U.S. The architecture of the church is magnificent to behold, with towering spires, stained glass windows, beautiful works of art inside, as well as an ornate Rococo-style altar. It's location makes it quite popular with tourists — it faces Jackson Square and is surrounded by historic Cabildo on one side and the Presbytère on the other. A great photo op is a shot of the church with the statue of Andrew Jackson that's in the foreground.
