The museum is built in the Spanish colonial style

For a dose of colonial history, visit The Cabildo, which is the flagship unit of the Louisiana State Museum system. The museum is built in the Spanish colonial style and is situated in Jackson Square next to the St. Louis Cathedral. See rare historical artifacts such as Napoleon's death mask, which is one of only four that exist. Step into the Sala Capitular where the Louisiana Purchase was signed and be sure to see the exhibit From "Dirty Shirts" to Buccaneers: The Battle of New Orleans in American Culture.
