New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park
There's no better place to get a lesson in jazz history than here.
Jazz plays such a significant role in the music history of, not only New Orleans, but of the United States as well. It's the one genre of music that America can call its own; jazz was born here. So, it's only fitting that the National Park Service would dedicate a museum to the music's history and development.
Visitors can look forward to exhibits, lectures and special programs for kids. A must is the Ranger-Led Jazz History Walking Tour that takes you through the French Quarter where you can hear stories about its influence. Tours are given Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 11 a.m. Jazz performances are hosted on the third floor of the Old U.S. Mint. Find out dates at the visitors center located in the same building.
