Located about an hour from New Orleans, Whitney Plantation opened to the public in 2014, after being closed for more than 260 years. The historic building serves as a museum offering insightful information about the lives of the enslaved through exhibits, artwork, first-person slave narratives and restored structures. The museum is open everyday, except Tuesdays, and tours are given every hour between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
