Walk one of the oldest streets in New Orleans.
After lunch, head back to the Vieux Carré and spend the afternoon shopping on Royal Street, a gorgeous, balcony-lined street where you'll find a vast array of antiques, art galleries and shops such as Fleur de Paris. It begins at Canal Street, running through the Lower 9th Ward, but the heart of the action is where it runs through the French Quarter, where many people flock to shop, take photos or simply take in the sights.
As you walk the boulevard, you'll find street performances by musicians, magicians and vaudeville showmen. A good time to come is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. any day of the week when the entire street is closed off to automobiles, making it easier for pedestrians to get around.
