A street beckoning to music lovers with rhythms of jazz and blues.
In the neighborhood of Faubourg Marigny you'll find Frenchmen Street — the music mecca of New Orleans. It's a great alternative to Bourbon Street if you want to get away from the touristy crowds and see where locals hang out. Several music venues, bars and clubs line the boulevard with live bands playing everything from Latin to jazz to reggae and rock n' roll. Plus, many of these places have either low or no cover charges, but do tip the performers to show your appreciation.
A few popular venues include the Spotted Cat Music Club, Snug Harbor and Three Muses, but this list is by no means exhaustive. Don't miss out out on the Frenchmen Art Market that operates nightly for unique pieces that make wonderful souvenirs.
