Best Things to Do
Wine lovers could easily spend a month exploring the wineries clustered throughout the Willamette Valley. For a varied selection of the local offerings, plan a tasting tour in the area of Dundee, Carlton and Newberg. Many visitors arrange for a car service to avoid traffic and the challenges of driving after sampling too many luscious varietals, though convenient luxury bus tours have also proven popular.
There are a number of notable tasting rooms in the Dundee area: Argyle Winery, Archery Summit, Bella Vida Vineyards, Cameron Winery, Domaine Serene, Erath Vineyards, Lange Estate Winery and Vineyards, Ponzi Wine Bar and Sokol Blosser Winery to name a few of the best-known. Some require a tasting fee of up to $15, though not all. Many of the vineyards also have landscaped grounds where visitors may stroll, lounge or picnic for free. Several even offer guided tours of their facilities.
Be sure to take some wine home with you to share Oregon's winemaking magic with the rest of the world — each sip will remind you of this lovely, verdant valley.
