Champoeg State Heritage Area
This 615-acre park on the banks of the Willamette River offers peaceful walks, bird watching and historical interpretation.
Take a head-clearing hike (or leisurely stroll) at the Champoeg (pronounced “shampoo-ee”) State Heritage Area just east of Newberg. Visitors may browse the museum, bird watch or even stumble upon an archaeological dig. The lovely fields, groves of tall trees and the sparkling river are guaranteed to provide a relaxing interlude. It's also a perfect spot for a picnic.
