Exploring the grounds of the magnificent AYANA Resort and Spa BALI while perched atop a cliff overlooking the pristine Indian Ocean, it’s hard to imagine a more romantic and soothing location to indulge in your every whim—especially at the property's Spa at AYANA.
The award-winning, marine-themed spa complex encompasses a whopping 236,000 square-feet, and boasts one of the world’s largest Aquatonic Seawater Therapy Pools, 11 treatment rooms, four thalasso therapy rooms, six spa villas for couples, and its two Spa on The Rocks Villas—two spectacular spa pavilions built atop rugged offshore rocks overlooking the Indian Ocean. There are also another six treatments rooms at RIMBA Rooftop Spa at the hotel's sister property, RIMBA Jimbaran Bali by AYANA (located at the same premise ).
The Balinese consider seawater holy, so it makes sense that the focal point at the Thalasso Spa is the 700,000,000-liter (that's nearly 154,000,000 gallons) Aquatonic Pool. Containing almost two million gallons of warmed seawater from the ocean, the pool is said to provide both psychological and physical healing. It also features 12 hydro-massage stations which can offer rehabilitation therapy for weary travelers suffering from strained muscles.
We recommend the therapeutic Marine Healing Ritual. It begins with a seaweed body wrap as you recline on a water-heated massage bed. Then, overhead shower jets are turned on so warm water streams down your body as the therapist massages you with an herbal balm using the Hawaiian lomi-lomi technique. A signature facial tops off the treatment. After, head to the air-conditioned spa café, which offers an a la carté menu. Besides providing a cool respite from the warm air outside, this café also serves up organic salads, soups, sandwiches and more.
On your second day at the resort, take a three-minute buggy ride from the Thalasso Spa, which brings you to a staircase that leads to a wooden bridge. This is the only access to the Spa on The Rocks pavilions that are literally built “on the rocks” at Kubu Beach. A Balinese traditional door opens to reveal sweeping, unobstructed and literally breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. As you enter the air-conditioned pavilion, you’ll see an over-sized bathtub strewn with flower petals or sliced fruits (depending on the treatment). There are four treatment packages available for guests of Spa on The Rocks: Lava Me Tender, Global Anti-Aging Treatment, Precious Gems and Diamonds Miracle.
The sound of waves lapping against the rocks provides a soothing and rhythmic soundtrack that might lull you into slumber. While the entire resort is nothing short of spectacular, the Spa on The Rocks facility is really the resort's pièce de résistance and an experience that no other spa in Bali can match.
