Experience clean and green!
Amelia Island Plantation — a 1,350 acre resort property less than 30 miles from Jacksonville International Airport — was designed green long before the word "green" was a part of our everyday lexicon. In 1973, the Floridian resort was designed to conserve water and energy, to be in harmony with nature and to have a minimal environmental impact. They recycled, reclaimed and preserved the low-country location along the Intracoastal Waterway between the Amelia River and the Atlantic Ocean. Roads, pathways and most buildings — though not the multistory oceanfront hotel structures — are hidden by the resort's White Oak canopy, and its sunken maritime forest gives it a special appeal.
The Spa at Amelia Island was developed as a holistic, environmentally friendly place to relax and replenish. Here, "GREEN" is an acronym for Green, Rejuvenate, Energy, Environment and Nurture. The spa is housed in a private structure with its own covered front porch, which is conveniently located across from shops and restaurants near the wedding chapel and fitness center and easily reached via car, bike and walking paths. (Along AIP roadways, even STOP signs are green!)
In the spa, guests relax facing one another next to glass walls affording water and tropical landscape views. From here, they can see the Tree House, across the boardwalk over the lagoon, where the upper space is used for yoga classes and a place for couples and small groups to gather.
The "Clean and Green" spa is committed to featuring the highest quality natural skin and earth friendly ingredients (i.e. paraffin, chemical and benzene free) in its services. You can purchase skincare products and more at the 350-square foot boutique; these include recycled jewelry and hand-crafted gifts. There are robes, candles, body brushes, pink and mineral salts, facial kits, body lotions and creams including sugar scrubs, yoga mats, self help books, T-shirts, shampoos and conditioners.
