Honorable Mention in The New York Times

Gayot received honorable mention in an article in the Sunday edition of The New York Times (May 23, 2004) entitled "Click and Eat On the Road" under the paper's "Practical Traveler" header. In a comparison of dining websites, author Bob Tedeschi writes:

"Gayot too is worth a visit, if you prefer polished, professional evaluations. Originally a publisher of restaurant reviews that has now expanded into travel-related reviews, Gayot requires its online readers to fill out a quick registration form before they can read the critiques.

The reviews are brief and well-executed. 'This is not a place for the faint of wallet,' the site writes of Le Bernardin, in Manhattan. 'Wine and food prices are heart-throbbing.'

Also useful are the site's city-specific e-mail newsletters, which offer information for travelers about the latest restaurant openings and closings. May's New York newsletter reported the planned closing of La Caravelle.

To sign up for these missives, click on The Food Paper, and follow the link on the left-hand side under Newsletters."
