While the name is a bit misleading (there are no orange blossoms in this beer), the flavor is straightforward. The essence of orange shouts out through the infusion of orange peels, as the skins of this summery fruit deliver a refreshing explosion of citrus. The aftertaste imparts a dry, slightly bitter tartness. This brewery utilizes fresh organic hops, barley, yeast and fruit from local growers in Southern California. It also incorporates pure, artesian spring water from its historic Indian Wells Spring, which saved the 1849 gold rush party that was lost in Death Valley. Many of the world's best innovations happen by chance or experimentation; crafted from its amber recipe beer, this 5.5 percent lager was invented when owner/brewer Rick Lovett was brewing a test batch of beer and after eating several oranges, decided to throw the peels into the boil.
