A guest room at The Hotel Veritas
The Hotel Veritas is an anomaly on the contemporary hotel scene. Tucked behind a reconstructed 1880's façade from the building's origins as a Cambridge carriage house, it doesn't fly under the flag of a hotel brand. This independently run property with just 31 rooms welcomes guests into the atmosphere of a private New England home without being fuddy duddy. That said, in this age of fast and furious hotels, we can appreciate a little convention — especially the Brooks Brothers uniforms here. Even the maids wear them! Anchored by a lovely white Belgian limestone fireplace, the name of the Simple Truth lounge may well serve as the hotel's motto. This place even 'fesses up to the small size of its rooms on its website.
