The Penthouse Loft at the James New York

In a city glutted with upscale hotel openings, it's hard to stand out. But The James New York does just that with its style-savvy attention to detail. The hotel's main interior designer also worked on the homes of Brad Pitt and Helmut Lang, while the 1,300-square-foot Penthouse Loft (complete with views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges) is the product of Dutch designer Piet Boon. Each floor boasts its own curated collection by an emerging NYC artist, and even the elevator is a kind of performance piece. Uniforms by British menswear designer Andrew Buckler are runway worthy, and Jimmy's rooftop bar, which takes its cues from the 1970's SoHo scene, has been drawing Page Six buzz since the millisecond it opened.
