There are some first names that don't need the last, and "Daniel" is one of them. This year the world heard that distinctive name quite a lot; there was the opening of New York's Bar Boulud, the buzz about Gavin Kaysen joining Café Boulud and Daniel made headlines with his new Maison Boulud à Pékin in Beijing. Despite the expansion, Daniel shows no sign of letting his scepter slip. In fact, Daniel has undergone a redesign, parting with the neoclassical décor. Designer Adam Tihany keeps the restaurant's classical bones intact, but the new look lends a fresh context in which to experience Daniel's breathless seasonal French cuisine. You'll still feel miles away from Manhattan, ensconced in intimacy, absorbed by bewitching dishes.
