In a city obsessed with food, Gary Danko, both chef and restaurant, enjoy a certain reverential status. Cheese and wine connoisseurs are especially fond of both Dankos as well. With the imminent opening of his more casual An American Brasserie, he remains at the forefront of the Bay Area dining scene. Contemporary Cal-French fare is served prix-fixe-style only; many dishes rotate depending on the season, but certain signatures, like roasted lobster, stay on year round.
