We look forward to bringing you more culinary delights, restaurant news, reviews for the top restaurants and cheap eats as well as the best travel information on hotels, 72-hour vacations and business trips.
Let’s not forget that we like to drink wine, Champagne and more (moderately), be showered with gifts, pampered in spas, watch good movies, and drive the car that best fits our budget, all information to be found right here.
Let’s be interactive and communicate in the New Year. To that effect, we have set up a forum area in our Community where you can share ideas with other users. Follow us directly in our blog; and post promptly your restaurant and hotel experience that will appear on the site in our in our “WRITE YOUR OWN REVIEW” section located at the end of each review.

Life is funny like that: today, I really needed an abalone fix. So I headed over to Surfas and caught up with Brad Buckley of The Abalone Farm in Cayucos as he was doing a cooking demonstration. We cooked some and ate some and, as expected, it was rather yummy.
Sneak Peek at The Bazaar at SLS at Beverly Hills

A third blog posting about the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills in one month? That may sound excessive, but there is much to report about Sam Nazarian’s first luxury hotel—we’ve hardly even mentioned the food!
Here’s a sneak peek at chef José Andrés’ cuisine at The Bazaar. Some of his dishes, like his foie gras wrapped in cotton candy, are as extravagant as Philippe Starck’s design. But by the end of the night, you’ll have had, for sure, quite a different dining experience!
Listen to what I said on KNX1070 about The Bazaar.

Ireland, A True Land to Discover

During her current visit to the United States, Her Excellency Mary McAleese, the President of Ireland, hosted the Tourism Ireland luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
The guests, including myself, thoroughly enjoyed the President’s speech, a moving and heart-felt description of her country. With warmth and compassion, she illustrated the importance of the people, the landscape and the culture of Ireland, inspiring us to visit and discover the beauty of this rich island with breathtaking scenery, cultural delights, and captivating cities.
The Human Fortress

EVAIA artists Gaia Melikian and Evangelos Stolidis are creating beautiful pieces of art that emerge from their understanding of the human form. Not only are Melikian and Stolidis the artists but they are also the subjects, having taken photographs of themselves that are then printed on canvas.
The lure in these images pulls you in with a gravitational force of another realm, surrounded in mystery, seized by emotion, you find your self in a subconscious battlefield of an erotic suspense. This series of silhouettes, entitled the Human Fortress, capture such intense human emotions and allow for a multitude of interpretations.
Los Angeles’ Men of Style

Last night, Louis Vuitton and GQ magazine honored Los Angeles’ Men of Style. And the winners are: chef/owner of Sona and Comme Ça David Myers; PGA Tour professional Anthony Kim; recording artist Ne-Yo; and actor Ian Somerhalder.
The reception took place at the Beverly Hills store, where the 2008-2009 Louis Vuitton Men’s Collections were displayed. Of course, we also checked out the famous LV monogrammed bags (the most popular selling bags in the world), their fine jewelry as well as the Women’s clothing line. Moët et Chandon champagne was flowing all night, as well as delicate canapés from Bread & Wine and macarons (my favorite was the Earl Grey) from Myers’ pastry shop, Boule.

A very elegant evening to celebrate the opening of the Montage hotel in Beverly Hills

The partying took place all through the hotel, from the street level to the 9th floor pool. The event was just gorgeous, with every gentleman in black tie and every lady in a long gown. Champagne, wine (from BV Vineyards 2005 Tapestry and 2006 Chalone Estate Chardonnay) and food were the inseparable partners of the evening.
A few of the guests on the next page.
