The Gayots celebrated the opening night of the 2010 City of Lights, City of Angels (COL•COA) Film Festival last night at the DGATheater on Sunset Boulevard. The 14-year-old COLCOA is the second entirely-French-language film festival in the world.
Due to the volcanic activity in Iceland, some key figures could not make it, but French Consul General David Martinon welcomed the packed house watching the North American premiere of Heartbreaker(L’Arnacoeur), a romantic comedy starring Vanessa Paradis (Johnny Depp’s life partner) and Romain Duris, and directed by Pascal Chaumeil. Before the lights went down, the film fans enjoyed glasses of Champagne Nicolas Feuillate and Vins de Provence and bites from the Club Culinaire of French Cuisine at the opening party. Our favorites were the lobster infused sea urchin tapioca pudding, with yuzu kosto and Kumamoto oyster in lobster gelée from Laurent Quenioux’s Bistro LQ and the Rouget Barbet soup from Jean-François Meteigner’s La Cachette Bistro. There is more information on the week-long festival on our L.A. Events page. For more on cinema, visit our movie page.   You can click on each photo to enlarge. All photos by Sophie Gayot.
