2010 Flavors of Los Angeles Culinary Gala

I attend fundraising dinners quite often, but the one being held on May 23rd, outdoors at City National Plaza in downtown Los Angeles, is my favorite. Not because I am the Honorary Chair, nor that it will be the fifth GAYOT Dinner Series, but because of its unusual format.

That evening will be the Flavors of Los Angeles culinary gala of the Greater Los Angeles Division of the American Liver Foundation. The proceeds from Flavors aid the ALF to help those touched by liver disease and create awareness of the more than 100 liver diseases.

Ten chefs from ten different Los Angeles restaurants will cook directly in front of attendees at a table that they are in charge of decorating and plating themselves. No two tables look the same: that is the beauty of this event! Imagine sitting with only eleven other guests, and talking one-on-one with chefs Michael Voltaggio (Top Chef Winner Season 6, The Dining Room), Celestino Drago (Drago Centro), Joshua Whigham (The Bazaar), John Rivera Sedlar (Rivera), Joe Miller (Joe’s), Kevin Meehan (Café Pinot), Lincoln Fuge (Beso), Shigefumi Tachibe (Chaya Downtown), Mirko Paderno (Oliverio), Ricardo Valdes (BottleRock), Shelley Cooper (First & Hope Supper Club) and Onil Chibas & Alberto Morales (Elements Kitchen).

A limited number of individual seats ($250) are available by contacting the American Liver Foundation at (310) 670-4624 or [email protected]. The menu is a five-course culinary extravaganza prepared tableside with wine pairings done by the chefs themselves. I hope to see you there.
