Seventy thousand square feet of red carpet will be necessary to cover Grand Avenue in downtown between 1st and 2nd Streets for the Third Annual Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival marquee events. Having the Walt Disney Concert Hall for a backdrop? Not bad!

More than 100 celebrity chefs from around the country and 250 wines from all over the world will come together August 22-25, 2013, to create culinary memories during some 25 events, with tickets ranging from $50 to $350. An Ultimate VIP Guest Package is available for $995. And a seat at the exclusive 24 guest Founder’s Dinner is $6,000.

Last night, festival founders David Alan Bernahl, II and Robert Weakley put together a small introduction party at Patina restaurant where we were able to savor a few of executive chef Charles Olalia’s creations. I can assure you that they were delicious (see photos below).

For more information, go to or call 855-433-5239.

On a side note, it’s too bad the official announcement of chef Olalia taking over the kitchen of Patina after Tony Esnault came a few days after we published our 2013 Restaurant Issue. He probably would have made the cut on GAYOT’s 2013 Top 40 Restaurants in the U.S.
