by Sophie Gayot Seventy thousand square feet of red carpet will be necessary to cover Grand Avenue in downtown between 1st and 2nd Streets for the Third Annual Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival marquee events. Having the Walt Disney Concert Hall for a backdrop? Not bad! More than 100 celebrity chefs from around the country and 250 wines from all over the world will come together August 22-25, 2013, to create culinary memories during some 25 events, with tickets ranging from $50 to $350. An Ultimate VIP Guest Package is available for $995. And a seat at the exclusive 24 guest Founder’s Dinner is $6,000. Last night, festival founders David Alan Bernahl, II and Robert Weakley put together a small introduction party at Patina restaurant where we were able to savor a few of executive chef Charles Olalia’s creations. I can assure you that they were delicious (see photos below). For more information, go to http://www.lafw.com/ or call 855-433-5239. On a side note, it’s too bad the official announcement of chef Olalia taking over the kitchen of Patina after Tony Esnault came a few days after we published our 2013 Restaurant Issue. He probably would have made the cut on GAYOT’s 2013 Top 40 Restaurants in the U.S.   You can click on the photo to enlarge. Photos © Sophie Gayot
