Moroccan Nights

[youtube id=”CzToylE859I”]   by Sophie Gayot   During my dinner last week at Acabàr, located in an iconic, storied building on Sunset Boulevard, I was wowed by the décor. The Meschin brothers — owners of The Little Door and Little Next Door — along with Roland Emmerich, Jerry Murray and Sue Choi did an amazing job restoring the former Moroccan restaurant Dar Maghreb that had been there for 42 years.   Watch my exclusive video interview with chef de cuisine Kevin Luzande in which you can discover the zellige tilework, ornately carved plaster and wood friezework, painted beamed ceilings, open roof and much more. You will also learn about the menu designed by executive chef Octavio Becerra; for more on the cuisine, read the review.   My visit to Acabàr inspired me to create a new GAYOT’s Top 10 List in Los Angeles for Restaurants with the Best Décor. Of course, Acabàr made the cut.
