The fifth annual Flavors Culinary Gala of the Los Angeles Division of the American Liver Foundation will be part of the GAYOT.com Dinner Series as it was last year. The fundraiser will be held on May 22nd at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, starting at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and a silent auction, followed by a sit-down dinner.
The participating chefs are: Jeremy Berlin, Church & State; Collin Crannell, The Lobster; Calvin Holladay, Flemings LA Live; Kevin Meehan, Café Pinot; Jean-François Meteigner, La Cachette Bistro; Larry Nicola, Nic’s Beverly Hills; Mirko Paderno, Oliverio; Keith Roberts, Ocean & Vine; John Sedlar, Rivera and Playa; Paul Shoemaker, Savory; and Shigefumi Tachibe, Chaya.

The 6th GAYOT Dinner Series will be in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Signature Chefs Auction for the March of Dimes Greater Los Angeles Division held at the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills. The lead chefs of the event will be chef de cuisine Anthony Zapolla and pastry chef Shannon Swindle from CRAFT Los Angeles.

I attend fundraising dinners quite often, but the one being held on May 23rd, outdoors at City National Plaza in downtown Los Angeles, is my favorite. Not because I am the Honorary Chair, nor that it will be the fifth GAYOT Dinner Series, but because of its unusual format.

Due to overwhelming response for the GAYOT dinner at The Bazaar on November 6th, we are pleased to offer two additional evenings at Saam, the chef’s tasting room at the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills: Friday, November 13th, and the following Thursday, November 19th. From modern American cuisine at SIMON L.A. for the first GAYOT Dinner Series in September, we move to the even more modern style of chef José Andrés at The Bazaar for the next GAYOT Dinner to be held on Friday November 6th at Saam, the chef’s tasting room, located within The Bazaar at the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills.
Saam is an intimate space with its own décor separated by glass walls from the lively action of The Bazaar. For this occasion, chef José Andrés and his team will create a very special prix-fixe menu of twenty-plus “tastes” for $95 that will include delightful surprises and a complimentary glass of cava for each guest. Wine pairings come in four different categories — Sparkling, Spanish, Global and Sherry — and start at $45 for a flight of four tasting portions.

During the evening, which will also be the celebration of the first anniversary of the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills, I will be at Saam to discuss the meal, and why chef José Andrés’ inventive dishes are the talk of the town. I hope to see you there.

I am pleased to introduce the “Gayot Dinner Series” which will be held at some of the finest restaurants in the Los Angeles area.
The Gayot’s are quite honored that celebrity chef Kerry Simon will be the first chef to participate. He will be cooking the first two dinners of the “Gayot Dinner Series,” which will be presented in his Los Angeles restaurant, Simon L.A., located in the Sofitel Los Angeles on September 10th and 11th.
Simon L.A. is one of our Los Angeles Top 10 American Restaurants, and has one of our Top 10 Chef’s Tables and Top 10 Lounges.
I will also be there both evenings to talk about the dishes with the guests. We are still fine-tuning the menu, but diners will be able to enjoy Maine lobster, organic corn tortellini, Simon Prime Beef Strip and more of Kerry Simon’s creative dishes, for the unbelievable price of just $48 per person.
