Owner of Palms Casino Resort George Maloof on the deck of Ghostbar

Earlier this month, we were invited to the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, owner George Maloof gave us a guided tour of the themed suites. The newest is the Barbie Suite, which fans of the iconic doll will love. The 2,350-square-foot space features unique artwork, and is well-suited for bachelorette parties.

For bachelors, the Playboy Suite, our favorite, features a cantilevered deck and Jacuzzi with panoramic views of the city. The suite was approved by Hugh Hefner himself, and is filled with a personal massage room, sauna, and seductive artwork and furnishings. There’s also a Playboy Club on the property.

Additional themed suites include the Hardwood Suite featuring an indoor regulation half-basketball court and locker rooms (the Maloofs also own the NBA’s Sacramento Kings), the Kingpin Suite (featuring two regulation bowling lanes), and the Crib Suite that offers a DJ mixing booth and a unique hydraulic bed. The suites—along with the on-site professional recording studio—are a big draw for celebrities, many friends of Maloof himself

During our visit, along with Paris Hilton and Howard Stern, we enjoyed a performance by Kylie Minogue at Pearl. But you don’t have to be a celeb to try chef André Rochat’s offerings at Alizé at the Top of the Palms, N9NE Steakhouse, or Nove Italiano. Those who want to party like a rock star flock to the nightclub Rain or the 55th floor Ghostbar, where a skydeck (complete with a transparent floor section) offers some of the best views in the city.

To wind down, we visited the Palms Spa for an Ashiatsu treatment where the masseuse made special use of her feet while clutching onto bars supported from the ceiling. The spa is located in the new Palms Place tower, which is also home to renowned chef Kerry Simon’s Simon at Palms Place There we savored a monumental Sunday brunch, complete with a Bloody Mary Bar, just before leaving town, eager to return.
